What was the highlight of Hotel M's Est Shijo Karasuma
Pretty much enjoyed staying at the hotel,
The location is fantastic—super convenient for shopping and taking the subway, just across the street. There are also a few convenience stores around the corner, so you don't have to walk a long distance.
1. The toilet somehow had a smell—like a musty, moldy drain—which was really unbearable! 2. The room is very small, so it's not suitable for guests with large suitcases

Very good location. Affordable for what it was. Room was very very small though, but this was expected.

Very Good
We loved the location. Rooms were very clean. Room cleaning is done every 3 days but trash is collected and towels are changed daily. It was within close proximity to a lot of cafes, restaurants and convenience stores. Nishiki Market was also close by. Entrance to subway and Hankyu train were also just a few steps away. The bus stops to get to different tourist attractions were on the main road. Would pretty much choose this hotel again if we end up in Kyoto.
At first I was hesitant to book this property because of all the bad reviews about how thin the walls were. It wasn’t as bad as the reviews said… but I only think it wasn’t as bad because our neighbors probably weren’t that loud. My daughter in another room did mention that at some point in the night she heard a man snoring but not enough to ruin your sleep. On our last night, we got some really loud guests - whom I could hear while I was in our bathroom. I think the walls there are thin. They also ignored the no smoking signs everywhere because when we left our room at night, the halls reeked of cigarette smoke. The rooms are pretty small but I was expecting worse.
